Bates Beach in Carpinteria, California
At the northern end of Rincon Park, just around the point from the famous Rincon, you'll find Bates Beach, locally named for the access via Bates Road. Another beautiful spot in Santa Barbara County where you can surf, play with your dog, sunbathe in your birthday suit, or just take in the stunning views.
Butterfly Beach in Montecito, California
Just down the coast from Santa Barbara proper, Butterfly Beach in Montecito is an absolutely beautiful stretch of sand that's great for everything from kayaking and catching the sunset to surfing or swimming or just lounging around and doing nothing. Like much of the central coast, Butterfly Beach feels like some sort of special oasis.
Campus Point in Isla Vista, California.
Campus Point is a Santa Barbara staple - especially for UCSB surfers. While it may require the right swell to really turn on, there's always fun to be found here.
Devereux in Isla Vista, California.
While not top always quality waves, Devereux/Coal Oil Point is reliable for consistency and variety.
El Capitan in Santa Barbara, California.
Like many Santa Barbara spots, it'll require just the right conditions to really turn on, but again, like many Santa Barbara spots, it's not a bad place to spend your day.

Leadbetter Beach in Santa Barbara, California
Beautiful sandy beaches and a dependable point make Leadbetter a top spot in the heart of Santa Barbara. Grab your log and enjoy.
Refugio in Santa Barbara County, California
Yet another absolutely beautiful stretch of coastline found in Santa Barbara County. Refugio is a righthand point break that wraps around a dramatic, multi-colored layering of sandstone and mudstone. Like most of the Gaviota coast, Refugio is the perfect place to time travel in your mind and imagine a much less developed and inhabited Southern California.
Rincon in Carpinteria, California.
Rincon as known as California' Queen of the Coast, earning the nickname because it's one of the best pointbreaks out there.
Sandspit in Santa Barbara, California.
Fall/Winter swells that hit the breakwater at Santa Barbara Harbor can create big, hollow rights that seems to last forever. When it's breaking at its best, its a heavy, fast wave that's probably best observed rather than paddled. Backwash explosions plus hollow tubes are always an exciting combo.
Hollister Ranch on the Gaviota Coast in Santa Barbara County, California.
Any time you can find a stretch of coastline that has been minimally changed by man is a magical thing. Hollister Ranch is one of the few places in Southern California that fits that bill, and as such has been the object of desire of many surfers on the outside who've heard the tales of The Ranch since it was first surfed in the 60s via membership in the Santa Barbara Surf Club. While public access by boat or on foot (depending on the tide) is allowed, getting there and scoring there is still something of a pipe dream unless you're an owner or a guest. Some waves are best left dreamt about anyway.
